Why should I work with an independent counselor?

There are nearly 4000 colleges and universities in the United States making the college application process a daunting one.   Trying to find the schools that best match your academic and personal strengths and weaknesses on your family's budget can seem impossible.  An independent counselor is a knowledgeable, unbiased guide who can help you identify those schools that suit you best The consultant will provide individual attention and assist a student in choosing a school that is a good personal match and guide the student through all of the application details.

When should I begin working with a college counselor?

The earlier a family begins working with a college consultant, the more benefits they will gain from the process. Gateway College Counseling begins working with students as early as the ninth grade and assists students in selecting appropriate class schedules and extracurricular activities. The college selection process preferably begins in the fall of junior year and we direct students in timing and preparation for standardized testing  as well as researching and visiting possible colleges. Regardless of when you start the process, Gateway College Counseling is open to serve families whenever they see beneficial.

How often will I meet with my college counselor?

Your counselor will work with you to create a plan of action appropriate for your college admissions process and schedule. We text, email, and phone calls to make connecting with us and getting the work done as easy and painless as possible.

In addition to the Packages you offer, do you have hourly rates?
